BEPR / SUPPORT
Your first
little signal.
Your people keep using Messages. You connect their new texts to BEPR with one personal Apple Shortcuts automation.
Set up incoming pages
Add your contact in BEPR.
Open the station, go to Contacts and use the contact picker. Select the same phone number or email address that person uses to message you.
Install the connection shortcut.
In BEPR, choose Connect Messages and follow the installation link for Connect BEPR Messages. Add it in Shortcuts. If you need the current template, open the connection shortcut ↗.
Create the personal automation.
In Shortcuts → Automation → + → Message, tap Sender and choose your contact. Leave “Message Contains” empty so any new text from them can trigger it. Select Run Immediately, then continue.
Choose the installed connection.
Select Connect BEPR Messages. If the editor shows a Run Shortcut action with an Input field, set its input to Shortcut Input so it receives the incoming Message object. Use the connection shortcut rather than adding an empty “Save page” action. Save the automation.
Allow and test once.
Allow Shortcuts to run BEPR actions when iOS asks. Have that contact send a new direct text. Check their status and the page in BEPR. A manual run without a received Message input is not an end-to-end test.
Add your widget.
Press and hold the Home Screen, choose Edit → Add Widget, find BEPR and select a size. For the Lock Screen, customize it and add BEPR to its widget area. Enable Lock Screen message previews in BEPR only if you want text visible there.
Labels can vary with iOS. Use BEPR’s in-app guide for the version on your phone. Apple’s communication trigger documentation explains the Message trigger.
Keep your people up to date
Add or remove someone later
Add them in BEPR Contacts, then edit the Sender list in the same Message automation. Keep the two lists aligned. You do not need a separate shortcut for each person.
Removing a contact in BEPR stops future imports for them; it keeps their existing page history. Removing them from the automation also stops that trigger. Their original Messages conversations are unaffected.
Updating an older BEEP connection
Install the current Connect BEPR Messages shortcut and point your existing automation at it. Avoid leaving duplicate automations enabled. The current app expects recipient-count information, which older connection shortcuts may not supply.
A few good things to know
Why did a text not appear?
Check that the automation is enabled, set to Run Immediately, and points to the current connection shortcut with Shortcut Input. Check that the sender is enabled in BEPR and their actual sending address matches. Allow any first-use permission request. After restarting your phone, unlock it once.
The direct-message filter skips input with multiple recipients or missing recipient information. Group SMS may not expose enough context to distinguish it reliably. If a direct text is skipped, contact support with your iOS and BEPR versions; do not send private text content.
Will the shortcut ask for text every time?
A correctly connected automation passes the received Message into the connection shortcut. It should not ask you to type the text or sender. Repeated input prompts usually mean the input variable or a shortcut parameter is missing.
iOS controls automation banners and permission notices. If your automation offers “Notify When Run,” you can turn it off. BEPR cannot guarantee a completely invisible Shortcuts run on every iOS version.
Why hasn’t my widget refreshed?
First check the page in BEPR. If it is there, the import worked. iOS controls widget refresh timing, and an update may not appear immediately. Check your full-text versus sender-only preference and whether Lock Screen previews are enabled. A Live Activity is optional and has system-controlled duration.
What does Read do?
Read clears the selected page from the unread queue, moves to the next unread page and keeps it in history. It does not send a read receipt in Messages or delete the original text.
Can I reply from BEPR?
The current compose area is a local practice pad. It does not send a text or deliver a message to anyone. Use Messages to send a real reply.
Can I make my own codes?
Yes. In the station’s Codebook, add a code and a meaning. Translation matches the whole message, ignoring case and surrounding whitespace. The original message remains available. You can choose whether meanings appear.
How do I remove my stored data?
Delete BEPR from your device (rather than Offload App) to remove its local archive and settings. Manage any device backups separately in Apple settings. Remove the personal Shortcuts automation if you no longer want it to run. Original Messages texts are separate.
What does it cost?
The planned App Store price is US$0.99 as a one-time paid download, with no subscription or in-app unlock in this release. Local prices and taxes may vary. Availability and the final price appear in the App Store.
